About the
recent work
Sarah Koljonen plays games with the natural occurring events in her daily life.
She approaches the process of art-making as conversations with nature, or as
games with chance phenomenology. She then transcribes the resulting dialogue
in the visual language that emerges in the game. Koljonen's recent work derives
from using the drawing tools she develop. Koljonen's work is not confined to
any particular medium or process, but follows a principle that allows the art
to unfold itself. By keeping the door open to the undefined and unpredictable,
her work is open to the discovery of possibilities that are self-generating
and non-repeating.
